Location

We gather for worship Sundays at 10:15am in Waters Elementary School, located at 4540 N Campbell Ave, Chicago 60625. Our summer services take place in the Waters cafeteria (located in the building along Wilson Ave). The entrance directly into the cafeteria is off Campbell Ave.

Driving & Parking

The school’s parking lot usually has spots available until 5-10 minutes before the service. Google Maps/Waze will bring you directly to the lot if you use 4510 N Maplewood Ave. Once you park, you can walk around to the main entrance or look toward the north end of the lot for a sign pointing to double doors.

Free street parking is also available on all four sides of the school property (Wilson Ave, Campbell Ave, Maplewood Ave, and Sunnyside Ave).

L-ing &/or Walking

Update: During the summer, LSPC worships in the Waters cafeteria. This building is on the corner of Wilson Ave and Campbell Ave. You can enter directly into the cafeteria through entrance #5 (next to the wood playground and black picnic tables).

Waters is between the Brown Line Western and Rockwell stops. If you’re coming from the south or east, get off at Western, walk south on Western Ave, turn right on Wilson, then hang a left on Campbell. A short walk south on Campbell and you’ll see the sidewalk that takes you straight to the main entrance.

If you’re coming from the north or west, get off at the Rockwell stop, walk south on Rockwell Ave, take a left on Wilson, then take your second right onto Campbell. Look for the sidewalk leading to the main entrance.

When You Arrive

Kids Age 4 or Younger?

Come straight to Kids’ Check-in. Our staff & volunteers will get you and your child/children registered and introduced to their nursery or preschool classroom. We’ll have a few questions for you (e.g., can your child participate in snacktime, any dietary restrictions, any special needs.) And we’ll answer any and all questions you have. You’re welcome to stay with your child as long as you’d like. When you’re ready to join the main service, we’ll walk you over there.

Everyone Else

Our summer services meet in the Waters cafeteria. If you entered the building by the parking lot, follow the signs - they will direct you down the hallway to the north end of the building. If you came in the direct cafeteria entrance, you’ll see the greeters before you know it. Grab a bulletin and have a seat anywhere you like, or feel free to introduce yourself to a greeter, one of the pastors or anyone around you.

Children in Kindergarten and above always start in the service with their parents. K - 4th grade are dismissed from the service after about 10-15 minutes for Children’s Worship. You can also find this information in the bulletin when you arrive.

The Service

We worship from 10:15 - 11:30am every Sunday. Most attenders dress casually, and there is a time of coffee and bagels following the service.

Liturgy & Music

Our service follows a historical liturgy and has three parts: Gathering to Worship, Hearing God’s Word, and Responding to God. This general arc of worship has been used by churches for centuries and is being used today by churches around the world.

Our music is a mix of traditional hymns and newer compositions. We also sing through the Psalms, using the passages suggested by the Revised Common Lectionary. You can expect to hear guitars, banjos, fiddles, accordions and trombones.

Sermon

Throughout our week, we are surrounded by a variety of voices, many of which leave us hungry and thirsty, longing for something that will truly satisfy. Jesus speaks of God’s Word as living water and the bread of life. So, we set aside time every Sunday (around 25 minutes) to read God's Word and hear a sermon that walks through a specific passage. Over the course of the year we study different parts and genres of the Bible. Through the sermons, we hope to grow in our understanding of God, His Word, and the great love He has for us in Jesus.

Communion table.jpg

Communion

We observe communion every Sunday, and our table is open to anyone from any denomination or background who believes in and is seeking to follow Jesus. To participate in communion, come forward when it’s time. You can choose from red wine or white grape juice as well as bread or a gluten-free wafer.  Others are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing or stay seated.

Fellowship

The service is immediately followed by a time of fellowship outside the gym entrance (or in the Waters hallway depending on the weather).  You’ll find bagels and coffee as well as friendly conversation. The Waters grounds are great, and there are places for kids to run and play. Volunteers on our hospitality team are happy to talk if you have any questions, need more cream cheese, or are looking for someone to chat with. We hope you’ll join us.
